For professionals there is always an option for damage control. Especially when the solutions have been given within hours after they released the patch. Oh, and a "shyte incoming" detector and "arrogance dampener" usually help a lot too.
Sadly knowing from personal experience, the people with above said assets are not necessarily those in control of decision making.

There's no need to damage control, the people currently playing are the diehards who will stick around until the servers shut down. they will eat up whatever crap funcom forks out to them. I'd bet that a lot of people complaining on the forums still bought the mission pack.

So if this is the new model going forward, does this mean we'll have to pay for Palace of Cetriss or crafting revamp, or any new content for that matter?
If so, game should be totally free and I'll be happy to pay for real content additions.
Which i actually do not mind, because they know what they bought and have all the right to complain as well, if they feel ripped off. And it is not true and a dangerous assumption that the people playing are "diehards". If you actually read the feedback, each time funcom pulls something like this there are less and less and a few more for whom "this was the final drop". Just because you have xy subs on paper, you can not deduce properly that they are content with your decisions and are actually still actively playing. This is the danger with a fixed evaluation period (if funcom even does it!) and long sub offers.
