T3 vs. T4 dagger

Does weapon damage affect melee pets at all? I am asking because I was comparing the tier 3 dagger with the tier 4 one.

In terms of intelligence, critical rating, hate decrease, and critical damage increase, the tier 3 dagger beats the tier 4 one. The tier 4 daggers wins in the areas of weapon damage (lol?), constitution, mana, and hit rating.
