Thread: The Game & Realistic Expectations.

Default The Game & Realistic Expectations.

We all love this game. When once upon a time, millions played this game on multiple servers we expected a certain level of development, quality, customer service, and dev attention. Content and PvP would be addressed and devs would care.A lot.

    THINGS. HAVE. CHANGED.

This isn't the hyboria of old. The 10,000 or so paying players that remain in the game are lifers that are probably not going to leave. They need to tone down their expectations EVEN FOR SIMPLE BUG FIXES and JUST PLAY THE GAME. Look at the new dungeon instance, if they can't catch a simple/basic/in-your-face glitch like a bugged weapon with double the DPS it should have ... do you really think they have the resources to pull off something larger?

The real funny thing is most of the whiners here complain complain about PvP or more content then proceed to give funcom 1 year sub and effectively lock themselves in for 12 months. That's like giving a CEO, who promises to turn around a company his bonus upfront in cash hoping he'll make good on his promises. It's silly and possibly harmful for future development.

THE BOTTOM LINE, is that A.) Funcom has set AoC below the priority of TSW, although future development for AoC is still in the works. This was all explicitly said in their report. B.) They have a timeframe in which they know they can roll out new content without losing vet players. Perhaps they take a census on how much of the population is currently doing T4 or how many times X dungeon was done by players. BUT THEY KNOW YOU. THEY'VE KNOWN YOU AND COLLECTED DATA ABOUT YOU FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS.

They may even hint/roll out on TL new content right before a large bulk of the 1 year subs expire. Who knows their metrics.
PvP I'm almost certain works on a different timeframe..for whatever reason they have decided that PvP is of low priority right after Gaute left the game. Maybe they wanted the game to be like WoW or thought PvE was the only way to get people to stay but it's unlikely PvPers will see any of things we asked for in the near future.

With all that being said I believe the timeline for development will look something like this.

+(1-2months from now) server mergers between EU/us.

+(1-4 months from now)general bug fixes.

+(4-12 months from now) new crafting system/unchained versions of 3 Dungeons/class revamps/PvP unchained on TL.(subs expiring)

+(12-16 months from now) New Conan movie xpack/One new AA for each class/PvP unchained on TL.

+(16-20 months from now) Bug fixes/PvP unchained goes live.

+(20-24 months from now) Bug fixes/PvP unchained goes back to TL/ new PvP weapons &armor introduced into crafting system(better then t4)/More new AAs on TL.

Sad but true. Although the lifers like myself are starting to see good alternatives coming in the near future. EQ next maybe, just wish they would tone down the cartoon.

Also would take Class revamps off the list. From what FC has said already it is not even on the drawing boards, so hoping for 4-12months would be a bit much.

Elder Scrolls Online, EQnext are all huge "super sandbox" games where the players make content alongside the devs. And you can pretty much do anything including picking up a shovel and randomly digging to hell. lol.

But none of them are mature themed games, they are all too cartoony. although in the distant future there are rumors of a game of thrones MMO.

You write this as if bug fixes ever resulted in anything but FUBAR City, and as if content was once flowing so heavily at us that we needed an e-tampon to absorb it all just to keep from drowning in AoC pootie flow (tastes like metal mmmmmmm).... It is what it's always been, just with a skeleton crew now.

SSDThread. Hitting soft deadlines and QC have never been their things, why would they be now?

Save yourself some time and frustration and step away from the forums or maybe even the game. Why do you stick around if every damn thing in this game pisses you off, and you (at the same time) imply you know it's never going to change? Woosah son!

Yeah its getting to that point. Ah well nothing lasts forever. But the last question I want answered is why? Why is it so hard to make some simple changes? Is it to lead the customer base on,after all time is money literally in sub based MMOs. These changes players seem to be asking for really don't seem all too difficult.
