Thread: A lot of confusion...

    Default A lot of confusion...

I sense a lot of confusion among F2P players when they decide they wanna go premium. There is NO offical site and/or source with a FAQ or a simple guide for these people.
Paying monthly sub + buying RoTGs + Turan seems natural for veterans but for newbies its a mess...

So..some Funcom representative should at least make a sticky thread here on forums with "how to..."

    It's your business after all.

There are actually F2P/Premium details and a FAQ on the official website. Is there specific information you feel is missing?

The information about how to buy RotG/Turan is missing in the FAQ.

Btw. the FAQ tab is barely noticable - this was the first time I actually clicked on it
And because all my new guildies are quite confused about membership stuff I simply feel you dont communicate this well to the public.

    Check this thread for example...

+ many more questions in our guild chat

Any Customer Service representative would be happy to answer any of the questions in that thread. Customer Service is available through both email and live chat. Instructions on how to contact Customer Service are already available on the forums. However, I do understand your concern and have forwarded it accordingly. Instructions on how to buy the expansions will be added to the in-game FAQ. The in-game FAQ can be accessed using the command /petition in-game.

    Thank you for your feedback.

Actually yes, I do think there's information missing. The chart shows that as a free player you get full access to AC:HA adventures but only Gateway to Khitai in AC:RotG. Leaving aside the fact that this is only useful if you know what those acronyms stand for (and many new players might not), there's nothing there to tell you what that includes and what it doesn't.

I think it would extremely useful, particularly for new players, if there was a page somewhere that said, in essence:

Ok, you're a new player. Once you leave Tortage, here's what you should be doing next. Here's the point in your adventure when you're going to want to buy and play (Turan/RotG/whatever). Here's the order in which you should play the available AOC content in order to best experience the overall storyline in the way the creators intended.

With an overall storyline as complex as Conan's, these are natural questions for new players who weren't around when post-launch content was originally released, and like every good sci-fi/fantasy fan wants to maximize their experience and get all their little canon ducks neatly lined up in a row.

I suspect that having a page like that available would not only encourage people to start playing AOC but also lead to more Premium account and content pack purchases. Many people have a somewhat limited entertainment budget, and giving players the ability to plan when they're going to want to upgrade to Premium or buy certain content or other items in the store helps to make those purchases more likely.

In addition, a page like that would give new players the security of knowing that this game is worth the investment, that they won't have to worry about running out of content anytime soon.

You can find all these things out for yourself if you take the time to dig a bit, but there's no site I know of that actually lays it out in a linear fashion. I think it should be, and as the official keepers of AOC canon, I think Funcom should do it.

You're my hero, BekkaJ! As a returning player (FTP - highest level was 28 BS on release) it's extremely confusing regarding the expansions and what you actually get (versus need) by paying for premium.

I have erred on the side of caution regarding paying for the expansion until I found out what it actually got me... and as a FTP, it pretty much gets me nothing (which is not explained!).
