Arishanya, one thing you said really got my attention and I believe goes to the heart of the issue here:

As a moderator, I get more information from the Funcom side of things, and what they're doing makes sense on a large scale.

This is what I'm personally having trouble with, and I bet it's true for a lot of players, especially those of us who are new or newly-returned to AOC. Is there some reason why we can't know, specifically, why Funcom chose to set the forums up in this way? What are the advantages of this setup from Funcom's perspective?

I submit that knowing what Funcom's rationale and motivation is for setting up the forums this way would be extremely useful in terms of being able to discuss the issue intelligently and being able to suggest viable alternatives that would keep both players and Funcom happy.
