I registered an account,
got my e mail confirmation,
got the download installed,
clicked email and was taken to my account page,
I can't get off that page and into the game to create a character.
Any suggestions?

I don't think you can get to the game from my account...you'd have to load the game up directly
Sounds like you need to close down google and click on the AoC desktop icon.
