We were unable to locate any characters for your account

Hello everyone, I had my friend load AoC and after he logs in, the character screen is blank and after a minute, he gets an error message saying "We were unable to locate any characters for your account. If this message has been reached in error, please contact customer service with your account information and we will assist you.".
Please help...
