Pfft, OP is a troll not an RPer
PvP-RPers today have thicker skin than that.
Besides cutting a griefing twat to shreds and escorting the lowbies out has its own RP to it...

The OP brings up some good points though.

That's not true. While I was on Cimmeria, there was a particular rp-player (a tos in EoS, some female player) that made a job of reporting every "inappropriate" name and action she saw. Minutes after she reported someone, they were logged out, and banned.

This happened to at least 10 people I played with on Cimmeria, including myself. If you read the old forums, you can see a huge rage section from all of us about it.

Completely petty and stupid, she has the opinion that if you came to cimmeria, you has to abide by rp-pvp rules and quoted player agreement clauses to you before she let you know you would be banned within 24 hours, which for me was about 10 minutes after she told me it would be bye bye time.

So someone who was legit exploiting or cheating that everyone reported nothing happned to them, you get reported for a name or something you say on cimmiera back then, especially by a rper, you were instantly banned.

I said PvP-RPers today, Suctum, though there are always primadonnas, no matter what aspect of the game... When they get GM attention too.... Brrr

Nothing wrong with that. RP servers had naming rules, and if you fail to abide by the rules, there should be consequences. The problem wasn't that a player reported infringements, it was that Funcom took no steps to enforce its own ruleset, which made enforcement dependent on people reporting inappropriate names and hence pretty haphazard.

(The one proposition I might agree with is that people who report infringments often are petty, annoying and self-righteous - like the person in your example who lectured people on the player agreement. But that doesn't mean that rulesets shouldn't be enforced.)

Now there's an another area where Funcom failed to enforce the rules. But I don't see your point that, by caring less about RP naming rules, FC would have been able to better detect and punish cheaters and exploiters. FC never really made an effort to enforce the RP ruleset (but only reacted to some reports by players), so clearly doing even less wouldn't have freed up any resources to better deal with cheaters and exploiters.

Maybe I am the only one that tries to fight my way off the res pad when being camped. I am strange in that I find it kind of a fun challenge to see how far I can get. If I can make it to a zone portal then yay for me. Then again I am the worst PvP necro ever.

But yeah, I do not go to the borderlands expecting glitter farting rainbow unicorns handing out candy canes. I expect soon after I arrive that others will wander in looking to beat up on a squishy necro.

    I still have fun.

Exactly what I expect whenever I set foot in the borderlands. I'm strangely disappointed when I DON'T get my face smashed through my ass by someone big and ugly within 10 seconds of setting foot there. Go figure...

I'm still dying to know what this thread really is about, though. Why? Because I find people exploding on forums or ingame to be utterly hilarious creatures. Then again, I'm also rather weird that way.

So your saying a name offense is in the same level of infraction as cheating. They choose to do nothing about the exploiting/cheating player after it was reported(with various SS and youtube recodings as evidence), but within 24 hours someone with what they "consider" a name violation is banned, without even a warning. If I steal a piece of bubblegum, or steal a car is the penalty the same? Wow. If you agree with banning people for names, it's easy to see where you stand. That has to be the number one most petty thing someone can do in a game. I got banned with the name Blueballs, are you saying there is no rp element to that? I can think of many ways to play that off...

It was pretty much the only way the RP community could fight back against pvpers, since crashing a rp event on an rp-pvp was considered a violation to them. The "pvp" part of rp-pvp did not seem to matter to these people, anf funcom seemed to care more about their precious "name violation" than the fact on an rp-pvp server it' FFA pvp and a player can kill who ever the hell they want too. I'm glad that brand of rper-is gone, I hope.
