Neverwinter is free and is pretty damn good. awesome combat system and skill based pvp. Plus it makes perfect world money so it pumps out content for pvp.

Despite the lore and visuals that some of you find repulsive (they're good in their own right and I quickly got used to them), Wildstar is an amazing MMO and the closest to AoC as far as gameplay is concerned - except that it's not just melees that need to aim but also ranged classes (even heals are aimed). Sprinting, aiming, dodging, circle strafing etc are all there. Smooth animations (albeit cartoonish ofc) also remind you of AoC and make the combat feel fluid and engaging (even in pve where there is no tank&spank, even the tanks can never stand still during a boss fight). The pvp has been designed around premades and has a rating system (albeit broken atm), solo puggers get the short end of the stick but it's not meant to be a casual game and that's fine. There's still options for them ("practice" arenas/minis).
The only really bad thing is that they made some huge mistakes with the pvp gear stats and the rating system, but that's getting fixed next week. And the devs are really cool and very talkative on the forums.
That being said AoC is still where it's at, and the (partly) new dev team is absolutely fantastic, I cannot stress this enough. It's just sad that they came so late in the game history, imagine how much less players would have left with all the goodies that we are getting now (pvp content, pvp gear and class fixes etc)
AoC still has the best open world system because of its pure FFA nature, no stupid factions that can't communicate with each other (almost all other MMOs do that **** and then they complain about how X faction has ten times more players and the open world pvp dies etc.) and the server wide chat is also an excellent thing that I dearly miss when playing other MMOs.

Neverwinter is fun but very clunky. interface is not done very well. And much like Star Trek Online it drops all of these wonderful boxes filled with random stuff....that you have to purchase keys for....with real money. I prefer the way funcom did it with the box being for sale for money and not a key. But overall, its fun to play. But not nearly as good as AoC.
