Level 19 minis were a blast for the first 3 weeks of the original BG Server. Then everyone wanted to grind to 80 and it died.
I applaud the GD for at least trying to do something for the pvp community. But, I don't see the point to a grand pve race to 80 for the server to die once that first person hits 80. And somehow claim its pvp? Last thing I need is another 80, already have multiple of every class with near all a full AA tree.
truth there sieges arent perfect and i wouldnt be able to siege every evening for sure.
if a guild is small and does an alliance it will only work if they can secure eachother's battlekeeps and reliably show up for siege events.
if a siege alliance is also a raid pve alliance things can go sour because the enemy will always choose to siege you when do a raid to seed dissention, i see it as a tool of war.
there should be some sort of weekly reset to all keep ownership to prevent guilds making ghost sieges to maintain power and to not allow a single guild alliance to have all the battlekeeps.
kesh fights are fine except when people bring on the lowbies or some powerlvling party makes your group a murderer so oposition can exploit guards.
so many times this crap of people running with active dots to guards or with lowbies ingroup before kithai came.
kithai guards are a bit better but still easy to use guards to halt pvp.
my last fury adventures in world pvp was on my tos fighting russians doing theirs bosses in hoc, had fun even after they installed those cretin guards had full vanity set(thx u russians).
hoc had nice pvp potencial to bad they had to insert guards in it.
sieges offer an actual delivery system to destroy an oponent city, i fully enjoy sieges when they arent laggy as hell.
more then being a great fun pvp event(when they dont lag) its ultimate way to show my "respect" for an oposing guild.

Joel, since making a new server seems to be easy with the limited resources available, why not make a new pvp server with everthing listed in my earlier post:

And of course take away guards.
Turn off or hide the other pvp serves, basically leave them as storage for inactive accounts. Then simply transfer all active accounts to the new pvp server, which would have everything included in the above link.
Then work on pvp cntent, balance isues, etc. This would have the most intense effect on pvp, and if you keep up the momentum of new pvp stuff, it will carry itself for years.

I have been subbed for a long time and definitely have the anger you guys do, and also feel like we're about at that time after new leadership change that we need to start seeing progress..
I guess I have a little more patience left in me and am hoping some of these things turn up on live soon and relatively bug free.
For PVP, I think the "ladder" concept he is suggesting is actually really cool. I'm not sure if you guys glossed over it, but he said this " For the duration of the event, you will be unable to use Offline Levels and we will place restrictions on the use of XP potions and instances. "
I read that as it would just be everyone starting out on a new toon trying to level and pvp or just pvp in white sands or whatever and get some kind of cool reward for it. I think just having a hugely populated game of lowbie zones and everyone leveling up roughly together would be reward enough. If they restricted the 6man instances then the pve rush everyone is complaining about really wouldn't exist.
I like Joel and his communication, and I'm worried you guys raging at everything he says will make him less likely to come here and post, he's not obligated to do it.
I have a few suggestions, this is far from a complete list.. of things that would be pretty easy to do as far as I could tell.
PVP: 1-2 new maps, AFTER merge.. just a kill count. Remake totem torrent with the same concept but different look, just make the capped quarters give you a 5% mitigation and 5% dps buff.. or remove quarters completely.
Change the reward system. You gain mini tokens and pvp levels relatively slowly vs PVE. Lower the mini tokens quest CD to 4 hours and possibly buff exp for non quested matches.
PVE: I like the route of revamping dungeons, its definitely the most bang for the buck. Be wary of over buffing then over nerfing items as you did a lot with coils.
Fix your current encounters. 3.5 is an amazing zone but almost never used because of its difficulty/reward/trashmobs ratio being so crazy. Same goes for lurker in house of crom.
Other things like achievements and ranks and stuff are also very cool even if not a power item. People grind the **** out of dungeons for vanity gear. I see tons of people wearing store only vanity clothes. If they could work towards special ranks or emotes or whatever that would make a lot of people happy.
I remember in GW1 you used to be able to type /rank and it'd do a cool glowing emote and doing that over someones corpse was always a lot of fun, kinda like /fan now I guess. Something like that would be very nice too.
ALSO: fix the item shop! There are lots of newer places like turan that you can't buy teleports to. Have sales on useful things, add new potions/items, etc.
This is not true and you should know that too. Even if they had deployed some hunters, these would probably not get what they came for (the big boss). Here is the game design flaw again. One minority enforces gameplay on others without consequences. People did not put x in the chat for pvp action, they wanted the boss.
It would be completely different if pvp rewards were somehow linked to the boss behaviour and health (and thus drawing in hunters to hunt the hunters or increasing pvp xp the nearer or the more fights are happening around it) or it could be controlled somehow and used to hunt enemy teams...
