More balanced? Please. Two good players together would steamroll other teams until they happen to meet two other equally skilled players. I don't want to login and hope I have a friend on that is skilled and not already teamed with someone. I just want to login and play. Adding this would force you to conform or be rolled.
It really comes down to the structure of minis being the problem. I was there 4 years back when PVP 5 was the cap and you could sign up with friends. Premades would destroy the pug minis. Back then HV and TT were the only 2 minis that were popped. I still to this day cannot stand HV because you'd spend forever in a PVP que waiting for it to pop, only for it to be a premade who sits at the rez pad farming kills, letting the mini go until the timer ran out (with that 1 idiot who'd keep jumping off the pad feeding them kills so the premade wouldn't end the match *sigh). If you look at it from the perspective of a guild signing up together with friends. If you have 6 players signing up in pairs. That means 100% of the time, you will have at least 4 players in vent working together on 1 team, and sometimes all 6 will be on the same team. Resulting in yet another premade vs pug scenario.
I'm not saying I disagree that it wouldn't be nice to play with friends. I for one would love the chance to PVP with my friends, I think that would be something that in fact would make PVP far more enjoyable. But with the structure of our minis being 6v6, it is simply to small a mini map where a small few can make a large difference. If we were doing something like 15v15, I'd imagine pairing wouldn't be as big a deal.

Bring on the change, I can't wait for it. Having the option to goon out on my fully geared and AA toons and then being able to decide to do it on a class that I had to put 0 effort into sounds great to me. People know me for playing one toon, but with limited time in my old age being able to instantly choose unchained and rock another class and immediatly start sh!tting on people sounds great.
There's nothing wrong with having a PvP que just for the sake of PvP. Social armor won through wins is all the progression I need.
Anyone who feels betrayed with the Unchained PvP que...I doubt they were PvPers to begin with. This is the best news Funcom has put out for PvPers since 1.5 was ended.

It sounded like they would not remove the old versions, just add in this new one. Hopefully the 'geared' minis would give better exp and the tokens and the 'skill based' ones would give less to make it more enticing to do the old ones for geared people.
The issue is that new 80s going into minis are up against pvp 10s who farm them. And then the newbies don't want to come back and get repeatedly farmed to try and catch up and get pvp 10 gear and the AAs without spending years catching up.
Now if they would give healers and tanks pvp exp based on healing done on team mates and damage taken, that would really make it a more fair playing field than forcing people to either dps and kill or play their class properly.
I agree that we need more stats, and healers deserve their share of glory for healing so they dont go mental and turn into kd wh...s. But i see one problem with revarding healers based on healing done on team mates. basically they could just spam blue heals non stop even if not needed and get rewarded for it.
You clearly have very little understanding of how things actually went down. I am from the original Tyranny server. Back then due to premades slaughtering pugs, minis wouldn't pop all the time. Where as right now in 2013 when the game is supposedly dead, minis pop far more frequently then back then when the game was still new. And yea, pug minis suck hardcore. No one would choose to play with randoms over their friends, but the imbalance factor is something that you are not taking into account, which will do nothing more then kill off PVP.
You sound like these yo-yo's in mini games who while on the mega losing team rushes off the rez pad to fight 1v6 and die over and over again. All zerg and no logic ;P

What I'm saying is that I like the fact that minis currently pop. They pop far more often then minis did back in the day ;P all your saying is you don't care how hardcore you get farmed, because your probably used to it. Such is the mantra of the baddie player. My ONLY concern when it comes to this topic of signing up with friends, is the impact it will have on the frequency of minis popping. Back when you could sign up with friends and the population was greater, minis popped less frequently then they do now. Logic indicates that there is a correlation. You seem more interested in having things any which way you can get them, so long as your happy in the moment, rather then thinking how this effects the game on the whole and in the long term.
the efects of removing team sign ups where devastating it was a huge impact hit.
a lot of people i played with left game because its no fun to sign up for minigames and never play with your friends.
you can call me a bad player all you want, this is an mmo i want to be able to play minigames with friends again.
