Thread: [Forum Event] Epic Tales of Uncertainty 2.0 Part 1!

Default [Forum Event] Epic Tales of Uncertainty 2.0 Part 1!

Many of you may remember old school books that you could read, that let you choose the path in which your character would progress. Much like those stories, we wanted to bring you our own spin on these.

Welcome to Epic Tales of Uncertainty!

Each week, until your adventure is concluded, you- the forums- will choose the path for your character. A poll will be made (see above) that will give you choices- choices which can lead to riches, fun, and yes- even death. The rules are simple:

    • Vote.
    • This is a for "fun" forum game.
    • You may reply here to try and sway your fellow forum go-ers, keeping in mind our lovely Social Guidelines.
    • You may speculate as to how the decision will impact your character
    • You could even go so far as to think how many weeks your character will live
    • Winning consists of choosing the right choice that leads the character to a "happy ending."
    • Every vote will have 4 choices
    • The ones who vote for the winning choice (each week) will be awarded a new forum title of "Uncertainly Epic"

With the rules clearly stated, we now begin our tale:

You awake from your slumber, having crashed at the nearest hovel you could find. You rub your eyes, stinging from the sun, squinting at the unwelcome arousal. Your eyes begin to adjust, and you notice your surroundings are the same as they were last night: your "bed," which is really just a bit of straw you found, a few copper in your coinpurse, a flask you managed to "borrow" from a "friend," and some apples you stole from a nearby tree that remained in your backpack. You have a satchel full of your clothes nearby. You stand up, back creaking with the pains of an uncomfortable sleep, pop- pop- POP! Your back, now adjusting to being vertical, sounds like a tree being felled. You are in the middle of a poorly traveled road, and for some reason you cannot remember where, or who, you are. You know you have something you have been trying to do, but the lack of sleep and the certainly overproof rum you had last night before did not help matters.

    You look around.

The air is crisp, nearly no moisture at all. The sun is out, but it is not hot yet. A tree, which was the cause of at least some of your pain last night, adorned with green leaves, shades you a bit. You stand on a path, with many different directions. A tree stump is nearby, being eaten by the local insects. There is a glade immediately in front of you, with a slight drop-off beyond your vision. You are in tatters, as you are in your sleeping gear, but your satchel is nearby with your clothes. You hear running water nearby.

Having seen what there is of this place, you gnaw on your apple. "Not ripe enough yet," you mutter to yourself- half excuse and half complaint. The crisp flesh of the apple gives way with a loud snapping sound. You continue to look around, to see if there are any hints as to what it is you are supposed to be doing, but find none. You know you must get moving, and soon, but are not sure why.

There is a faint sound, way off from where you are, of men talking. You don't know the voices, but are certain that they are large men. You decide it is time to go.

Before you get moving, of course, you have to know:

    Who am I?

(Please pick one of the options above to progress the story)

Sleeping in tatters? Clearly a guardian. An Assasin would never be careless enough to sleep (even drunken) unprepared in the wide open (otherwise he/she would be a very dead assasin), a necromancer would not even care to undress (given his lack of personal hygiene, always surrounded by the dead), but a guardian has to undress to be able to sleep at all.

The hints to having loot that doesn't belong to them clearly points to a thief type of character, thus an Assassin. Why would a mage be sleeping in a pile of straw? They usually have piles of cash for the nicest of hostel rooms. Why would Guardian decide to run away from the sound of a few big people?

I can tell you that there is no "wrong" answer in the beginning of this tale. Therefore, vote for who you want to see!

I believe when he says 'no wrong answer', he means that your character won't just fall over dead if you pick the wrong class in this part.

For the forum title, you must pick the winning/popular option.

    Edit:
    Example
You picked Guardian! You take an arrow to the knee and die.
You picked Necromancer! Your undead minions turn on you and you die.
You picked Assassin! Your adventure continues.

    Sort of.

More like "The majority of people voted to do the Guardian story" or "The majority of people voted to do the Necromancer story."

This sets off our "story arc," if you will.

Hence, no wrong answer. There is also no RIGHT answer (except for Necromancer, because necro's story rocks.)
