These kind of "mysterious" or "secret" excuses like retrictions or translation issues or "too hard to implement" are getting old.

You're telling us: your suggestions are nice but you have no idea how much hard work it is to actually do it, i.e, we are silly ignorant customers.

what we read is: a) funcom doesnt give a crap about our suggestions or solutions, dev team knows better; b) funcom's current staff is lacking any experienced and competent professionals in most areas, thus they cant provide a satisfactory service for the money we spend in for those services.

now I do understand things like hierarchy, process, schedules, approvals and all that corporate policies shananigans but the response we, end users, get is always that vague patronizing and sometimes disingenuous sentence: "we will look into it" or "we cant do this for reasons we cannot discuss". Just give us straight answers from time to time instead of trying to look smart. Funcom clearly doesnt have a professional dedicated web designer and cant afford to hire one. Its that bad how things are? And they cant admit defeat and take a freely given work that is better than the one that has been officialy presented? In the end you (and Im talking funcom as a game company) end up looking worse than the idea or image youre trying to preserve so maybe its time to change things internally. Right now little issues like like forums change, unfixed game bugs, poor customer service, lack of new game content, etc starts to accumulate thus the overall negative mood and feedback you receive from the community. This whole forums debacle is a perfect example of why people are so bitter around here.

I knew all along Tomium didn't know how to do it. He obviously isn't going to look dumb and say it.

Other people can buy vbulletin licenses Tomium. Its not all smoke and photoshop. What exactly are you qualified to do?

It just proves they had no one to test it or even make it look decent, so they create a 5 minute template, dump this change on the community to point out whats wrong.

Its so sad what this company has become.

I welcome constructive feedback. I have said this before though, that just because you ask for something does not mean it is something we can or will be able to do.

We're still working on the forums, but it is a slow process. I wouldn't expect any changes (noticeable anyhow) for a while.

I understand how people like Sifie's version. I think, on a personal level, that it is quite good as well. (again- that's me, not FC)

I have reached out to him directly (assuming Sifie is a dude). So, let's table this for a while and see what happens, ok?

I have said this before though, that just because you ask for something does not mean it is something we can or will be able to do.

We all know that. Good lord, we know that. And even if you get the thing / fix / goodie you want (like the rez bug fix), it's sometimes taken back for no apparent reason some time later (like the rez bug fix).

But it's just weird to refuse a reasonable, even an unreasonable request with a pretty obviously bogus argument ("photoshop", "restrictions", "translation", ...).

What in the devil's name is the problem here? Funcom just had/has to ask Silfie for the template and install it into the forum software. No need to make up something about cryptic restrictions or even claim he didn't actually create the template.

Funcom really doesn't give much of an impression to actually know their stuff anymore, and things like that (or wanting to join a level 50 minigame on Rage...) don't help to fight that impression. Not knowing things is one thing - we all don't know a lot of things, and who can claim to know everything they should know even about their job, hobby or whatever? Admitting that is much better than just inventing stuff or refusing better knowledge with unreasonable or even arrogant statements.

Don't claim that you're "unable" to do something that you don't want to do or actually can do (as, I assume, changing a forum stylesheet), but don't know how to (which is, again, more or less okay).

Well, you got this part down now.

That said, we're not exactly asking you to "fix pvp" here. This is a very simple and solvable issue, as proven by Sifie. Which is why it pisses us off so much every time you post something and nothing has changed. I know what it looks like when a company switches something they made with something a customer made, which is likely why whoever is responsible for this problem is resisting (assuming they're actually resisting and not, you know, utterly uncaring). The thing to take away from here wasn't "FC must implement Sifie's theme" anyway, it was "FC must change this color scheme because it's bad". The stuff Sifie made in like 10 minutes is good and I'll take it over this beigefest any day, but I'm sure a professional web designer (or even Sifie himself) could've whipped up something even better in a couple of days' work.

We're asking for better readability (contrasting colors) and usability (nonmicroscopic buttons) on forums. Though at this point, it might've become a symbol of everything wrong FC has ever done, so we're probably gonna find fault no mattter what happens.
