Thread: Hidden Lore?

  1. #1

    Post Hidden Lore?

So, i've got no idea if this is actually a thing but.. I've been exploring playfields in and out (Outside the invisible walls, ETC.) And i've found some pretty interesting stuff, wich might be hidden lore of some kind?

For example i found this: http://s1052.photobucket.com/user/It...ml?sort=3&o=11
Obviously it's a statue that is supposed to be Set but, i figured there might be something else behind this.

And also found this (A long time ago):http://s1052.photobucket.com/user/It...ml?sort=3&o=12
I'm not sure what it's supposed to be but mayby it's Ibis? I don't Think Ibis looks like a mammothe but lorewise, what would be a reasonable explenation for this being here? I've seen some statues in Khopshef Province that looks a Little bit like this, but none that has the same details and is the same size.

Note: I know Mods like to Close down threads like this but i figured i'd give it a go.

I think most of the "out of the map" props are assets used to copy/paste when the game was still in dev. You can see textures tests outside of Khemi, a small village outside of OT, and the outside of Tortage is amazing too.

But I've never seen that mammoth head, where did you find it?

It's probably not a thing. If something is visible from inside the map, it's for scenery (such as the buildings at mainland Khemi). If it's not visible from inside, it likely doesn't count.

That mammoth skulled sphinx is probably some mapmaker goofing off or a modeller testing object combinations. The snake statue seems ordinary to me, they probably took a frame of snake mob attack animation and covered it with stone texture.

You have the very same statue in Khemi, on the dock to Tarantia.

I also found that there's alot of cool stuff outside of Conarch Village. For example burnt down huts, tents, stone ruins, bridges and Caves (When you enter the Caves you relise that the ground is not legit so you fall into a hole.. but ye :P.

It seems like (if it has anything to do with lore, Vanir's has came and burnt down and destroyed Everything. That's atleast what my nerdy lore side tells me.

One of the old-school sins has a blog (Slith I think it was?) about this stuff, and pacouring your way around the game.

It's a lot more difficult now than it used to be, where I'm finding so many invisible walls where there used to be none and sometimes it feels like a smash'n'bash action game zone =D

    Yeah I did some exploration

You are right, back in I THINK 2009 Funcom changed how they handled their "walls". It used to work in such a way that if you pressed on a wall long and hard enough you could pass it. Now? No way!

However MAJORTY of locations that I have explored is still possible (along with Old Tarantia hidden village!).

The really good stuff is sadly gone forever (like outskirts of Conarch).

Entekiller used his time well and he explored a lot more than I did when it was possible.

This thread and his collection will blow your mind:

Yeah, that wall bug was well utilised on PvP servers. Wasn't much you could do except just shoot 'em while they did it, because some GM's just sat there and watched.

I've seen everything from a tent with a Vanir face down in the show with a flagon still in his hand (Connals Valley) to strange monoliths to hidden Khitai Effigies. There's a lot Funcom has put in the game that is "out of bounds"
