On another note, the game does advertise weather systems, but outside of Khitai I have never seen any rain or thunderstorms.

It rains in Field of the Dead all the time.

However I would not expect it to rain much in Stygia.

The thing I remember about the lighting was the night and day cycle. We have that now, but night time is always fully bright with a full moon. Night time use to be dark, probably too dark, you could hardly see anything in game. But still it could have been modified a little bit rather than scraping the whole idea and having a full bright moon every night, and consequently no darkness at all.
