Could change after the VoM nerf, tho, we don't know how they will handle this, but nuking the whole skill could save the class imo
Until you are more or less full T4, DT actually requires quite a lot of micromanagement in terms of spec and gear - much more so than guard or conq. Now you may say that switching builds before each fight isn't what you call exciting. But then, standard rotations for guard and conq aren't that hard to master either, once you have figured them out...

I think asking people what's is the funniest class doesn't make sense. Each person likes different things and what can be fun for you can be boring or stressful for another one. Start a guard or a DT and if you don't like it change to the other and if you like it stick with it. Don't worry about which is the "funniest"

At the end all classes have interesting things. It's a game mate. All here is designed to have fun.

    your a bit off honestly.

dt once you reach 17% crit chance works like this:
in dread shadow spec spam leech life+2 highest ranks bfa
in tali builds asfof 3 ranks+bfa after each rank of asfof slide a leech life somewhere in between
no need to overly worry about shields all the magic damage procs will be happier with combos with do multiple hits on finisher as oposed to watching shields.

downside heavily gear dependant to reah the crit rating needed for vom to makes its op magic.

    on guard
polearm is super easy gameplay and gets boring using same combos over and over again, hardly any management required
juggernaut very fun and demanding and having to watch shields all the time is mandatory for optimal results.

overall t1-t2 gear is enough for any noob new player to be ready to start mastering class

    on conq
carnage conq is possibly the easiest class to play ingame minimum management required at all
brute conq is fun and forces you like guard to continuesly watch shields and more fun even forces you to swap weapons for maximum gains.

overall same as guard t1-t2 gear is good enough starter gear for any noob to start learning class.

I was talking about micro-managing gear and spec. Until you have almost full T4, you have a pretty significant trade-off between mitigation and aggro, in particular in fights where bosses do magic damage. So in order to get optimal results, you need to optimise your gear and spec for each encounter, much more so than on guard or conq. But I guess you guys who have been running around in full T4 for years probably have trouble remembering that.

    too simplified and ofc innacurate

and Rathothis is spot on, dt's who dont have T4 orgasmic gear but a mix of this and that should micromanage a lot to stay competitive with better geared tanks

The role of guard is different from other tanks, guard is the best tank to do the tank jobs imo. First of all, the vengeance effect already lower 10% dmg modifier on boss, a very important element especially on hard hitting boss. The second element is to buff your whole group dmg by coa/battle cry, buffing 5 ppl dmg output is way better than doing high dps on your own. Third is aggro swap, only guard has the abilities to swap aggro with OT in a very fast frequency cos the cd of threat skills are short. Forth is the ability to take big hits, with strike guard, cunning deflection and sta, guard can take at least 7-8 big hits np, even kite a raging boss.
Playing a guard well in pve is not that easy as you think, you need to have a threat meter in your mind whole time in order to use the OT as your human dreads but not just doing crazy dps and pop a dread shadow when low like a noob.

I recommend guard, it is the least gear dependant tank, also it is the strongest tanking class with monstrous aggro and survivability. It exceeds at tanking magical bosses or surviving very hard hitting bosses. It can do decent dps in polearm spec and is good for soloing too.
DT starts as weakest soldier and it needs a lot of gear and a lot of AAs to make up for class innate weakness. Once DT gets the the best tanking gear and right AAs it becomes really fun class-tank that does (in)decent amount of dps. DT will be dragged back to the bottom of underdog pit after the next patch tho...
