Thread: AoC History

  1. #1

    Default AoC History

Does anyone know the complete History for AOC? What where the original servers, what got merged into what, and so on.

How many RP servers where there? PVP? PVP?

I am interested in both the US and EU pre merge to Crom and Fury.

AOC still has a strong representation of old core playe base. I, for one, am here since day 1.

You can checkout my yearly reviews to see what happened to the game http://aochideout.blogspot.com/searc...arly%20reviews

Most fun I ever had in AOC was on my first server: EU PVP-RP Aquilonia. It had very unique blend of RPers and mature PVPers. PVP-RP always draws people with great attitudes.

To get a little sense of what it was like to be on PVP-RP server:

Just browse my blog a little, its a real time machine

    I was (2008) BlueSteel-->Tyranny-->Cimmeria-->Wicanna-->Set (Now)

    .

I think AoC has run its course this year. Most of the hold-outs I know from '08 are moving this year to ESO.

Last time a game got hyped like that was...oh Starwars? And we all know how that ended up :X

I am not saying ESO is bad, but ZOMG we have had some AOC killers over the years and some of those are not even around anymore.

That being said 2013-2014 so far worst years for aoc.

Well if you read the anouncements posts here http://forums.ageofconan.com/forumdi...r=desc&page=26
it's like reading the AoC history....

BTW, culture PvP must have been very intersting ruleset, I do not know how the serves long lasted and what gone wrong and merged...

    "New PvP Ruleset: Culture PvP

As part of celebrating the release of Age of Conan we are happy to unravel a brand new PvP ruleset that has not previously been disclosed: The Culture PvP ruleset! Note that this new PvP server type is experimental and players on these servers must expect an ongoing change to the ruleset.

The goal of this PvP server-type is to stimulate war behind the three cultures of Cimmeria, Aquilonia and Stygia. As a player on a Culture PvP server, you are shielded from lone travelers of your own culture, however you may still group with any culture and form a group and attack anyone.

The Culture PvP ruleset is an evolving ruleset that will be tweaked and polished based on player-feedback in the months to come. Although it is, at least currently, possible to make guilds across cultures, pure culture groups and guilds will be endorsed on this server, and as such players on the Culture PvP servers must prepare that the future will hold continued changes to the ruleset.

We have changed to ruleset on two servers that were previously flagged as full PvP. The homes for the Culture PvP servers are:

    Bane (US)
    Twilight (EU)

    With best regards,

    Funcom"
