Thread: RP company while leveling and some instances

Default RP company while leveling and some instances

I came back for RP. I understand it's very diluted now, harder to find. But I believe there are still people out there.

I have a HOX who is currently level 71, a TOS who is 43, and a BS who is 45.

If anyone would like to do some questing, exploring, and run some instances along with some degree of RP, let me know. We can come up with some kind of mutually agreeable reason for being where we are, doing (more-or-less) what we're doing, as a setting for our RP interactions.

Edit: Forgot to mention some important bits. Crom server. And I'm US Central time. I work various hours, but my play time is usually late evenings my time, sometimes during the day on a weekday or weekend.

It is indeed hard to find RP these days outside of the Serpent's Head Inn, let alone RP while leveling or dungeon hunting. But I've seen a few nice IC Cistern/Main System runs in the past few weeks for vanity gear and such. I am currently leveling a 62 PoM alongside an 80 HoX, both on Crom, US time. Almost 90% of the RP I see is in-guild, however, though a few friendly independent players have reached out to be included. Just started in the forums here to try and expand my knowledge of the whole community, and would be open for any interaction.

What are your toons' names Sendra? I have a similar levelled Sin called Rajhakan, but my main is a BS called Hearn. If you see me around, I am RP friendly

(I detest tavern RP by the way, but open world is fine by me!)

I used to say I hated tavern RP. Now, I have come to appreciate it for what it is, but if that's all there is, then for me there isn't much point.

For me, tavern RP works to get acquainted, to dive deeper into stories or relationships, to learn more, to advance stories or relationships to new levels.

And spying and eavesdropping of course - back in the old days of the Cimmeria server when there was something to spy on and eavesdrop on, and someone else who cared. Now - doesn't seem to be, which makes me very sad.

I do enjoy the tantalizing bits I can pick up (once I know enough to know what to pick up on) that some people deliberately reveal in their tavern RP.

I don't want to know the entire story at once, I enjoy speculating and wondering and learning as it unfolds.

And of course, when some wiley RPers drop references in the presence of one of my characters, to something private only another of my characters will understand, it's a bit of minor thrill. It's kind of like "I know something you don't know" but instead it's "I know something I don't know."

That's what tavern RP is supposed to be in my mind: a gathering spot to get to know who's who and who's around, as well as a springboard to go off and explore the world with once you've found someone you can stand being in the presence of for more than five seconds. You can find me on Jiahuo, if you want find me without bothering with the tavern stuff. Otherwise, I'll visit the Inn from time to time to see if there's anyone about.

I'm available for RP as well and would love to network with other RPers on Crom (you're on Crom right?) I'm newly returned to AoC (I started and played in the dying days of Wiccana when there was like...five people left lol)

I have three newly christened-level-80 characters(I can never decide which one I want to consider my main)

Eoghann - Cimmerian Bear Shaman 80
    Rashepses - Stygian Demonologist 80
    Xiaoxiang - Khitan Necromancer 80

I'm also leveling a very new Aquilonian Barbarian named Typhius

Maybe we should all brainstorm together and set a scene for ourselves to meet up and RP something?

Tavern-RP is what things has been reduced to? This is indeed sad news, especially for those of us that refuse to set foot in the SHI.

Oh well. Tides of the times, I guess.

Statements like this always annoy the hell out of me.
No, RP hasn't been 'reduced' to Tavern RP.
There is plenty of Open World RP going on.
Guilds like the Fallen, Nomads, Berades and others excel at it as well as individuals who are members of non-RP guilds.

The taverns serve as a meeting point from where a story can develop, if you want to invite others than your guildies to participate. Ignore the taverns; especially SHI, at your own loss.

And yes, there are also plenty RP-guilds and individuals you'll never see RPing outside a tavern. Just because you don't enjoy that aspect (and I prefer Open World myself too) that doesn't mean RP is "reduced". Lots of ppl enjoy that sort of RP; it is not your place, nor mine, to belittle or ridicule it even if we choose not to participate in it

The state of RP has IMO improved lately and I'll give a nod of respect to those who stuck at it even when the bigger RP guilds gave up on AoC.

Sorry if you're annoyed by my post, but I'll call them as I see them. I will admit, however, that I came back to AoC only last week, and thus haven't got a full oversight of the new bunch of RP-guilds. But given the fact that I've been singularily unable to find any info what so ever on the current state of RP here in AoC, I'd say that my observation is for the most part correct.

I've made it a habit of avoiding SHI like the plague for a multitude of reasons, one of which being the very fact that I absolutely abhor the Shakespearian way of RP (i.e. scripted events acted out much like a play in the theatre. I'll leave the reasons as to why out of this post, as it'd blow through the character-limit damn near instantly), not to mention that I have absolutely no interest in setting foot in a place where I've seen blatant ERP'ing in the open so many times that it's not even funny. While I'm no prude, I seriously don't need to read through a sitting of badly written textporn. And yes, I am aware that this may or may not happen anymore and was more rampant before, but that reason alone is why you'll never see any of my toons in the SHI. Hell, I don't even pick up any quest that has me going into the place, and I haven't done so for years.

See, it makes me happy that RP is picking up again. What makes me sad is the seemingly over-emphasis on sitting in a tavern RP'ing, but that's a discussion that I'll stay out of, given what happened the last time I voiced my opinion on it. I don't belittle or ridicule those that like that sort of thing, I just find it sad that we don't see more random and spontaneous RP out in the world instead although given the amount of idiocy from certain members of the AoC-community (the disruption of the Tesso-events back on Wiccana before the merge, anyone?)makes me understand why RP is practiced in the dark, so to speak.

Are any of the old guilds still present? I recently learned that Shadow Company folded a while back (which I can understand, but that's a discussion for another time and place), but which of the others stuck around?
