    Default PvP Gear: Can we get an official answer?

    Can we get an official Funcom answer as to why PvP gear is so much inferior to their PvP counterparts?

    My theory: Funcom is using some kind of pre-existing , automatic item budgeting program, where all their gear "automatically" "balances".

    If true. This is completely nuts. With a game so complex where one change with one class or even single ability can alter entirely how that class responds to existing and future items coupled that with trying to balance this gear with both pave and PvP in mind couple that with other class roles and future alterations to abilities/class/gear and you can in NO WAY shape/ form/ creed/ doctrine allow a computer to make decisions on something so crucial as the gear component of a toon.

    GEAR(ESPECIALLY PVP GEAR) NEEDS TO BE CREATED BY DEVS WHO ARE CONSISTENT PLAYERS AND HAVE A FIRM GRASP OF THE CURRENT PvE/PvP/CLASS SITUATION.

    The only thing being nuts here is that post of yours, sorry mate.
    I doubt there is something like a budgeting program, they just take the lower tier of the same type of gear (pve or pvp-gear i mean) as a reference and strengthen the stats for the new stuff then.
    Doesnt always work out, i hear some weapons/staffs are hardly an improvement in comparison.
    The reason why PVP8/10 gear is inferior to T4 is quite easy to guess - it came out a lot earlier and wasnt adjusted afterwards, while pve gear has progressed to create a desire to get your skulls smashed in raids countless times.
    So its either (as suggested in other threads) to make certain/all stats on PvE-gear useless in PvP and vice versa, or to boost PvP-gear in strength, OR to release new pvp gear.
    Regarding the gaps between top- und undergeared toons boosting the current ones or even introducing new sets isnt too desirable, while making pve-gear useless in pvp would require a full set of pvp-gear to be obtainable for reasonable pricing even at pvp0.
    Still i dont think such a change could go without rebalancing some of the pvp-sets and slightly boosting the starters-sets.

    IF they had a budgeting program, they would have a system to budget, budgeting rules and a budget foremost...

    Looking at the items ingame, i doubt it...because it would mean they weighted item stats VERY randomly and out of touch with ingame effects.

    What they should do is re-balance the gears. From T4 down to T1 gear. Remove the useless outdated stats on some of the tiered gear such as hiding and perception then add crit rating and prot or other more useful stats.

    Basically follow the same stats as T4 gear but with a reduced budget for each successive tier.

    Then do the same for pvp gears so their tiers are equal to the pve stuff.

    Pvp 10 gears would be equal to T4
    Pvp 7 gears would be equal to T3
    Pvp 5 would be equal to T2
    Pvp 1-4 would be equal to T1


    Then all the pvp guys would be fractionally happier. Pvers would be happier with gear progression that made sense. No downside.
    But that would take a lot of balancing and budgeting effort.
    Waaay too much work....

    And have to do this every time new gear is introduced. Like t5, or a new expansion or new land... Sounds like you thought this out well!

    No because the new gear would be created using the same balancing algorithm, so it wouldn't be but slightly better, but still clearly an upgrade.
