Minecraft is more in spirit of Lego than the Funcom game, but given that Minecraft already has the building aspect bagged (even collaborating with Lego on their boxed sets) I suppose all that's left for Funcom is to focus more on the gaming side.

If you like to tinker especially on the computing side (or have kids) I suggest taking a look at Raspberry Pi (http://www.raspberrypi.org/about).

Yes, but they are missing out on building it with there own hands (not just thumbs) and then throwing what they have built accross the room (or down the stairs) to watch it burst apart in little peices mom/dad will step on later and yell at them to "Pick up your God Damn TOYS!!" awh the good old days

It seems strange to play legos on a computer instead of on the living room carpet

My experience with kids and lego these days is that if you buy them a box of lego they expect you to build it for them, then they watch you build, or at best help out a little bit. It's sort of a interaction between adult and kid. But if you give them a tablet they want to play with it and the adult must watch, even 2-3 year olds grab the tablet for themselves.
