Nostalgia comes in different forms I suppose, but honestly, I always thought TES 4 was somewhat linear in comparison to TES 3. The pattern just keeps rolling :P
TES 4 is Oblivion. Morrowind is TES 3.

In between Daggerfall and Morrowind you have two kinda spin-off game with Battlespire and Redguard but they don't have a number. So Morrowind complete name is actually "The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind" (And if battlespire and Redguard were noted 3 and 4, Morrowind would be 5 anyway)

So sure, everyone has different interest, that not a scoop. Even if my first TES was also Daggerfall, I still prefer TES 3. Don't get me wrong, I love Daggerfall. It's huge, and you have even more freedom than in Morrowind. It's also even closer to the paper RPG. However, I've always liked Morrowind better, for it's atmosphere and more regular pace. Even if I remember I was pretty pissed off that you couldn't choose certain special perk anymore at the character creation But anyway it doesn't matter which one you begin with, everybody can like whatever they want. I'm just saying two things :

    1) I would like to read an extensive TESO review of a Morrowind-fan, because he's more likely to have the same excpectation as me
    2) If you're speaking about the whole serie in your review, you better know your sh*t and not be clueless.

Fun fact : Not actually the same guy as the player named "Jaedelyia" in-game. Never though I would one day encounter a guy with the same nickname as this one.

    derp

I don't know why I thought there was an Arena 1 and an Arena 2... I'm looking at my Daggerfall box from 96 or w.e., Says Elder Scrolls 2, but I coulda sworn I played two Arena games before that.

    Edit: Figured it out.

"In late 1994, Arena was re-released in a special "Deluxe Edition" package, containing the CD-ROM patched to the latest version, a mouse pad with the map of Tamriel printed on it, and the "Codex Scientia"; an in-depth hint book. "

I was only in grade 4 at the time, so that may be why I'm remembering it as it's own game. Also, yes, I still have that mouse pad :P

Damn, I would kill to have that book in hands. I love game booklet. Unfortunately, I discovered The Elder Scrolls with Daggerfall, so I never had a physical copy of Arena, (even worse: only more or less shitty post-morrowind Dos-box version).

Does your Daggerfall box have the hologram effect on it? Mine shimmers in the light, it's pretty neat

Ah, the 90s were great for PC game boxes...

    No more NDA

PvP, atleast its not GW2 zergfest of fail. Its a huge step forward from WvWvW in GW2. No lag and you can see opposing players name and communicate. The lag is probably the most impressive thing with the combat, there is a ton of crap going on and its smooth even with a beta build. No fixed points for siege equipment, and many different siege stuff and different ammo for each. Started as a ESO hater, but the siege zone is pretty epic. You can run into houses and all types of place to hide and find supplys.

I recently watched that first video link you have posted... and I have to say, looks impressive... perhaps they actually pulled it off?

Sieging has always been stupid in my mind what with the apparent technical difficulties in making sieging a smooth frame rate experience... I have tried sieging in many games... WoW (pathetic attempt), GW2 (fun for 1 sitting), and of couse AoC... all attempts in these mentioned games were failures. Even on a powerful computer, either the infrastructure or the apparent weaknesses of the game engine... all failed in this endeavor.

But, this ESO sieging... looks like they might have figured it out.. will see.

    Thanks for sharing!

Played pvp in ESO and its pretty much the same as in gw2 wvw. Its the same stuff that happend in beta for gw2.

When people organize (after launch) they will end up zerging because numbers are firepower and it attracts bad players.

There is no need to zerg in none of the games, its a choice people do since they lack coordination and/or skill.

ESO is impressive though even though i think the combat is sluggish.

Thats my issue, the combat. I am constantly stuck comparing every mmo to pre-1.04 AoC combat with animations and speed. Only game I have found is neverwinter with the speed of gameplay and skill required by the player. TESO after level 15 with the weapon swapping does open up the combat but it still feels slow and methodical. Your waiting for a ability to come off cooldown and there is no way to chain together a good combo sequence.

the map size for TESO does make small group organization possible, you could hit and retreat and be able to outsmart a zerg, not so boxed in like gw2.

The question is is it worth $60 to see how it plays out the first month? paid for SWTOR and had fun with that train wreck for 2 months. Same for GW2.

And having a subscription is a great thing for a mmo, there will be no pay to win in pvp. very rarely are the free to play models very free to pvp

People zerg because it works, if it did not work they would not do it.

And the problem with a new game is that players want to play it the fun way when they test it, therefor always less zerg in the beginning.

When things settle down people will switch to whatever works, and that is usualy zerg.

The videos from mmorpg.com above shows how well zerg works in ESO, and yes when you tell your soldiers to run into the fire that is a zerg :P

    Zerg - build siege - defend - zerg - build siege - defend ...

This is exactly how it was in GW2.

No developer has still found an solution to make zerg less effective, and until that happens we will have to accept that the zerger wins.
    I am Stian ingame...

ofc zerging works, that wasnt my point. My point was that you can actually soloplay and play in small parties with great success in wvw and probably also in TESO. Zergs work for everyone and attracts bad players. It will be the same in TESO. Personally i have no issues with it since i have dont zerg and i wont do it in TESO after launch.

I played like 90% of my time in wvw in small parties, killing zergs 3-4 times our numbers. Its just a matter of choosing the terrain to do it in and coordinate and know how to use cross profession combos.

If you get boxed in in wvw you dont know the routes of the zergs, you dont use scouts, you dont use spies or you play the wrong profession for small party warfare. Thief/warrior cant be caught even if it is at point blank by a zerg.
