Thread: CPU upgrade time?

    You cannot underestimate bragging rights...

When I build, I build a rig thats supposed to last a while. I like the saying: "if something works, dont screw around with it".

Translated to = this rig that I want to build now should last at least until 2016, and at that stage when I get a new GPU, I dont want it to be severely bottlenecked by neither CPU nor Ram.

New Piledriver CPU from AMD. Expect FX-8350 performance +20%? And a lot of heat?

Got my morning tech news fix

That will probably slot into my Asus Formula 4 mobo, but Vishera at 4.4Ghz is fine for now. Using Zalman 9900 flower cooler and keeps everything chilled to 50c.

I stopped buying PC parts "for the future" some years ago. By the time you need it, can get it for half the price anyway. Like 16GB RAM now.

8 gb ram dual channel has been more than enough for years already, i expect that to last at least few coming years

Finally HardOCP has a review of Haswell. Only place to truly geek out while researching.

Heh, the FX-9590 has a rumored TDP of 220W - so good luck keeping that at 50C with a normal cooler..

Just ordered 4770k + Asus sabertooth.

I cross my fingers and hope that my old cooling system fit with 1150 socket

Game uses CPU & GPU Very poorly so aslong as u get a Dual/Quad Core and your safe.
Game only use 20% on my cpu cores less than a Minecraft Server with no one on.
Minecraft even uses 8 cores while Conan uses 1-2 cores/threads.
Clings bad in my ears when its a heavy demanding game.

    Experience from GPU´s
    5870 1GB
    6950 2GB
    660TI 2GB
    7950 3GB

No difference in FPS since game uses GPU very bad aswell, most likely i think it is becaus game uses the CPU so bad the game bottlekneck the GPU becaus of bad CPU Usage

    Normaly game uses
20% cpu on 1 core or 2 nothing else realy.
    50-60% on GPU

We most likely gotta wait on Funcom to Optimize the game themself since its Software related not Hardware.
Depending on how old of a machine someone has ofcourse.
