The point is, that Soldier class usually = face roll. Take a class like Carnage Conq. Anyone can be good on a Carnage Conq, it isn't a skill based class. You simply charge >> knockback >> destroy. You are given the ability to snare your target at the end of a combo, and whirlwind hits so hard, and is AoE, that you have to be new to the game to miss with it. Then take Polearm Guardians. They can land combos from a very great distance, takes no skill to dominate on this class. Then comes the DT, this is a class that will be easier to manage in terms of making them miss combos, since all you have to do is jump around them and they wont land anything generally. But in group combat, where they are having others CC for them, and getting off their combos, this class will dominate due to high dmg output of the class. So yes, in a 1v1 situation, you may be right, but we are not talking 1v1, we're talking about group combat. And tanks aren't generally the first class to be targeted due high survivability, better to take down the clothies and rangers first, then move down the line.

So hey when this thing comes out, I predict either A people will sign up for it for a few weeks/months and will get tired of not being able to use their gear in mini games, and go back to the other minis, making Unchained the next Tournament mode. Or B that minis will be even more newbish then ever, due to everyone signing up, and yet no one capable of playing with friends still, so it'll still be face roll for the actual PVP players. But you'll just have minis full of people who never wanted to PVP because they knew they'd get monkey slapped due to gear differences, but they have zero PVP experience, so they will still get monkey slapped. Either way, this change doesn't help YOU. Minis are still going to be 1 side being able to dominate the other depending on the number of solid players on each side. Landing combos on moving targets has nothing to do with gear, and everything to do with experience.

Imo it would of been better if they just did the PVP brackets of PVP 0-5 and 6-10. Then there would be no PVP 10's for the PVP lowbie to deal with ;P there is skill involved in PVP, this change isn't going to be super positive, because we are now going to hear people complain that the Veteran players can dominate the new player. How do I know this? I have already seen it on Set. When we moved from Tyranny to Set server, there was this 1 player at PVP 10 with the exact same gear setup as another player at PVP 10. 1 was from Tyranny and 1 was from Set, both the same class (for the sake of not being cruel, I'll leave class and names out). The guy from Set spent several months doing minis (mind you he did well until the server transfers) before you just stopped seeing him sign up anymore, he would go 0 kills and like 10-15 deaths per mini due to engaging superior players. Meanwhile the guy from Tyranny in the exact same gear setup would go 20-35 kills a mini, and would destroy him. You also see people who buy other players accounts from time to time. You'll see a PVP 10 running around getting completely destroyed and wonder how the hell someone at PVP 10 could get thrown around so easily, then you come to find that character was sold to the player, and thats why. No actual experience, which takes a while to gather.

Made it sound too easy without mentioning opener + 3 step combos. If it was like you said, we'd see more carnage conqs in minis but double bubble brutes everywhere.

What about pve gear? And the AA you get when you go for pve gear? Pvp level per se doesn't mean jack sh!t, it's gear and AA that matter (and skill and experience come after - hence why the Unchained pvp thing makes sense and is exactly what pvp should be about).

PvP gear was a huge mistake. 1.05 itemization was a huge mistake. AA's were a huge mistake. I'm glad they are trying to fix at least one of these.

The tanks that hit for this kind of DPS are for the most part using T4 gear, T3+ acessories, and/or faction gear. Tank PvP gear gives pretty much standardized stats with protection. Where your seeing huge dps is from crit rating and crit damage from all the accessories. The equalised the crit chance on all gear and made it almost the same no matter the class by Tier of item. Then factor in how much damage an Ibis and/or T4 weapons can make. The difference between a DT's T3 and T4 weapon damage and stat benefit from the weapon is HUGE.

Take away the PvE gear and you'll see a drastic reduction in dps from tanks.

The whole PVP Unchained thing might just fail hard. The people that despised progression based PVP most likely left a long time ago, leaving the crowd you see nowadays. Who are these changes going to satisfy? Add to that the anonymity of this unchained PVP thing; if everyone is PVP 10 it'll just be dozens of nobodies-you-know fighting for nothing - no progression and no recognition. A big part of PVP is fighting people you know and have played with or heard of or... etc.

I'll wait and see. I've definitely been interested in trying a lot of other classes out but not had the will to grind them sufficiently enough to be competitive.

Tanks are too strongs on pvp nowadays...they are doing more dmg than a dps class...and it is insane.

Oh yeah, the almighty competitive PvPers in AoC:P Most of the players that used to be the best have quit or just logg inn once every full moon it seems. At some point I think FC needs to give PvPers something else to fight for than gear, because everyone can get it if they just play enough and its an endless circle.

    Sweet news from new GD.

He will put unfixable latency in game when all servers move to the US.
He will take progression out of PvP.
