Yes, useful for getting the loot window popping up during fights much more likely than now and for unfair distribution of loot in groups. The only point where i can see its usefulness is in solo instances.
Maybe you can elaborate how it works in TSW (i only know autoloot from rappelz and such a system will simply not work in aoc)?

You press one key and it open all bags that are in your range which you are allowed to open.
If you are solo items land direcly in your inventory.
If you are in group it opens roll pop ups for some items depending on group/raid and your personal settings.

So instead of clicking on bags one by one you just press one key. It makes gaming experience more fluent, since you can loot while running/casting spells/doing combos.

Then it is as feared...more annoying popups during group fights. At least till some playermade rules are enforced that make the benefits of autoloot obsolete for groups again...

And now you don't get popups if anyone opens bag? Are we playing same game? If you dont wan't to roll on trash items just set autopass on everying thats is below blue/purple level. No more stupid pop ups.

The current loot system is still bugged though, the need/greed thing still vanishes at times. That should be fixed first if they do anything on loot system.

Then there is the problem with Ninjalooting especially in raids now that we can dismantle raid items in the crafting system. Players ninja raid items even today for the 20s, how bad will it get if they're worth 5g as crafting resource?

Autolooting could allow players to ninja from a distance far more stealthy than today, even today it's hard to see who ninjas as they often use chaos to their advantage, like ninjaing just as 2-3 others pass the box etc.

It should be displayed in raid chat who gets a raid item nomatter how it was looted, that way you atleast know who ninjaed.

No. Autoloot isn't autoloot per se. It's just one key to open bags instead of shif-clicking them, nothing more. Options stays as group/raid leader sets. So, you really can't ninja loot anything more you could do now.

Sure, it will need a click. And now you get popups already. But it isn't hard to imagine if one of those "openasfastasyoucan" guys gets his/her fingers on autoloot...now it is definitely easier to control.
If they add it as a feature you can activate or deactivate globally as groupleader, than no problem.

<33333 auto-loot. When leveling/grinding, with short-term buffs running and such, having to stop for no reason but to collect bags is a pain, especially as an AoE class. And in dungeons/groups, where pulls are quickly happening one after the other, it'd be great not to miss/skip bags (especially containing quest items).

I assume too that it'd be an interface option that could be turned off, so I'm not sure why the reticence about it.

There is no need to turn it off at all.

If one do not want to see pop ups it set auto pas on trash loot.
If group/raid leader do not want random to open bags it sets: Leader only.

We don't get best loot options to chose from. But adding autoloot key won't cut any of them.
