That's exactly what my utility does, though it might need to be run as administrator to get those privileges.
The utility should still work, but people need to follow the instructions carefully otherwise Funcom's settings from the cloud will overwrite your local settings.
I think it only grows from what you typed, not what the game generates. The XML element that causes the problems is called "input_history", which collects what you typed.
