Just downloaded game! Patcher doesn't work!

So, I just downloaded this game. I double click on the patcher and I get "some of your files are corrupt...this may take several minutes." Ok, so I click NO and wait, nothing happens. Then I re-click and I click YES, and the patcher shows up and looks like it's "verifying" files. It gets stuck around the 2.38 GB mark (left it on for 12 hours straight) computer freezes if I try to do anything else on it and basically my entire OS crashes. Any solutions?

Oh, btw, this also happens on my friend's computer too. I'm curious if anyone else (brand new player) has the same issues? If so, wow aoc company, you probably lost several players over this issue.
